Wolbachia

This is a site for researchers around the world who are studying Wolbachia (which are gram-negative bacteria that infect invertebrates, causing cytoplasmic incompatability, parthenogenesis, and feminization, among other things). The project included designing and building a database to record Wolbachia hosts, strains, and cloned genes. Researchers login to add data, upload genome sequence alignments, search a bibliography, and other functions. The site was funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation.
